We Moved!

1516 S Bundy Dr., Suite 208

Los Angeles, CA 90025

Here’s why …

When I launched Jolly Road some 11 years ago, it was from a desk in the living room of my bungalow apartment in Los Feliz, California – a lovely little hipster town just east of Hollywood.

David and Jesse Kalisher. 2015.

One of my earliest clients was my big brother, business mentor and successful photographer, Jesse. A series of photography how-to videos set in Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon.

My one desk turned into multiple desks and closets of clothes became closets of equipment until virtually no living space remained. I moved to Santa Monica to live with my now wife and kept the apartment for years, as I loved that neighborhood and it served my business quite well. The commute wasn’t terrible as long as I was in my car no later than 7 AM and stayed put until after 7:30 PM.

Then Jameson was born. My driving time went from a little over an hour a day to 2 hours a day because I needed quality time with my little guy!

I was searching for over six months for the ideal space near home and it was challenging. Too small, too big, too expensive; contracts drawn up only to have the owners decide to move their accounting department into my office the day I was to sign the lease… Ugh! Then one day out of the blue this space came up for rent, 5 minutes from my house, just the right size, rent, etc.. As I checked it out and snapped pics, I thought how nice it would be to call my big brother, Jesse and get his thoughts. Jesse passed away a year and a half ago. In the years since our Grand Canyon / Las Vegas project, Jesse and his wife, Helen, had built their company, KALISHER, into a very successful art company.

After walking out the door of this intriguing office space, I snapped some pics of the hallways to maintain a full memory of the place to compare with others. Down the hall maybe 10 feet, I saw a familiar black and white photograph. It was one of my brother’s. A dramatic Grand Canyon landscape. His company sells art mainly to the hospitality industry, so it was extremely surprising to see one here. This print was definitely a good 10 years old and was intimately familiar to me from the instructional videos we made together back in 2008.

It was the icing on the cake. That office needed to be the new home of Jolly Road Productions and now it is.
